Well the quiet good seeing conditions this week have continued in Melbourne, as we have a very slow moving high over us and a SE wind.

First go this season at an RGB image, a bit under exposed so some artefacts, and first go at de-rotation in Winjupos.

160 seconds per channel using IR685 filter as Red.

Hope others are having a go.

Clear skies,

John K.

Cheers Mike, let's see what the seeing gods deliver!

Any plans to aim your rig at the planets at some point or are you permanently staying in the dark side??!!

Hmmm? yes often thought about it...I do have the 6" Starfire and a spare SXVH9 CCD camera but no filterwheel anymore or filters actually (sold'em to buy the 12" Skywatcher)...I need another mount for it too but you never know, would love to try. I should try pointing the AG12 at it some time huh? This (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/154904467/original) is the same size as Jupiter and was taken with my current gear, so who knows...

For the time being I will sit back and enjoy your sleep deprived efforts instead :)

That's a great image - guessing you don't really want to change your deep sky setup.

Attached is another processed version with the help of WinJupos and an addition of a Luminance IR layer from the Jan 28th.

Well actually, I am keen on getting a longer focal length compound scope some time in the not too distant future..:prey:..soooo, that may well lend itself better to a few planet snaps :D

Your latest WinJupos repro looks fabos and once again is making me think man I wanna have a go at that!!! Great Stuff :thumbsup:

With your set up - the 12" from ORION - a 5 x Powermate is all you need. Use those LRGB deep sky imaging filters you have and just buy planetary cam like an ASI 120mm camera and you are set!
