M33 in LRGB. Data captured from SRO in California. I have some Ha as well for a future repro :D
Scope: FSQ-106ED
Mount: Paramount ME/AP900
Camera: QSI683
Filters: Astrodon Gen II LRGB, 5nm Ha, OII, SII (1.25")
Guiding: QSI OAG + Lodestar
Image scale: 2.094 arcsec/pixel drizzled x2
Exposures: 17x900s L, 8x900s R, 11x900s G, 13x900s B
Processing: PixInsight
It's a lovely object and I hope I have done it justice.
Bigger version here: http://www.astrobin.com/151279/ The IIS site compression doesn't do any favours to the attached version.
Cheers,
Rick.

Nice work Rick! The full res is very good and the one to check out. Addition of Ha data should add some nice touches to the galaxy.
Justice done. :)

Nice and subtle in the reds. Maybe doesn't really need Ha

Thanks, David. I thought I'd try to do a PI intro one weekend before we start to get into better imaging weather but I have been waiting to find out about some family and work arrangements. I'll see if I can schedule something in March, perhaps.
Thanks very much, Mike.
Thanks, Geoff. I think I'm going to struggle to add Ha in a way that improves the image. That's probably why I haven't tried yet :)
Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks, Maurice.
Ta, Scott.
Thanks, David. I was planning to do a small hands on workshop in Brisbane for some of my AAQ colleagues but maybe I'll have to consider a roadshow  i haven't heard from Vicent for a while so I'd say his workshop in Australia is postponed for a while at best.
Thanks, Paul.
Thanks, Greg!
Cheers,
Rick.

Great image Rick. Congrats.
All the best,

Wow, what a stunner Rick.
Have been hanging out to see this, after struggling with how to process a few hours of M33 data from 10Chain before Dec hols, and this is a reference pic of the beast IMHO.
Congrats on making such good use of your SRO data!

Thanks, Steve.
And thanks, Leo.
Thanks, Rob. The SRO data would give me an unfair advantage :)

Superb Rick! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Assuming you added the spikes? :)

Thanks, Ross.
Thanks, Marcus. I believe the spikes are caused by the KAF-8300 microlenses. The QSI-683 produces them as did my SX H-18 camera and I often notice them in other images from cameras with this sensor. My process for reducing big stars appears to make the spikes more prominent. Fortunately, I don't mind them :)
Cheers,
Rick.
It would be an interesting session/breakout for the AAIC I reckon. Am assuming its not on for this year though

After the 2013 AAIC there was talk of a 2015 conference in Sydney but I haven't heard anything since, unfortunately.

Stunning image, Rick ...
It should't be a struggle, just try the PI's NBRGB script ;)

Thanks Mike & Simon!
Ta, Ian. I have used NBRGBCombination before and never managed to get brilliant results from it.

Tack sharp, excellent Rick. Given Ha is pretty much astro red, what happens with a Ha,G,B mix, is it tighter?.
RickS
27-01-2015, 08:22 PM
Thanks, Fred. In this case the Ha just makes the red blobby bits bigger and more blobby. Copy of my Ha is attached.
Martin Pugh recently did a M33 with really high res Ha from a big scope at SRO with AO and that added a lot more detail and made a great image. My Ha from a 106mm scope isn't as good
Cheers,
Rick.
Mmmm. Nice Ha data too.......

Beautiful Image Rick, very sharp with plenty of detail.
For me the addition of Ha always adds to the depth of these images
Well Done
