Hi Folks,
I am now the proud owner of the Hyperstar system on my CPC Celestron 9.25c Hd edge which means I can image at F 2.8, in saying this will my camera above be ok with the wide field imaging as I thought the smaller the pixel the better with wide field or am I wrong becuase I don't understand the thing about pixel sizes to focal length ratios . Any help will be appreciated

Even better, your C9.25 is f/2.3 with Hyperstar

Ok, thanks for this. little confused. I thought the smaller the pixel the better because I obtain more information and then I can zoom into the object a little to see the detail but if the pixels were big does this not create a pixelated image ??

Yes - the bigger pixels will mean that you will be somewhat limited in how much detail you will see (although ultimately this will also be determined by how good the seeing is), but the up-side is that the big pixels will be sensitive and your scope is (very) "fast" (focal ratio) so will gather data quickly.

Small pixels tends to mean more noise than large pixels. Large pixels get more light as they have a larger surface area so the signal to noise ratio tends to be higher if the read noise from the chip is reasonable.
As CCDs develop the read noise seems to be getting quite small (Sony CCDs for example seem to have about 1/3 the read noise of many Kodak chips). So the smaller pixels may still work on long focal length scopes as a result.

3K USD or there abouts (http://www.optcorp.com/atik-4120ex-color-ccd-camera.html). Don or Michael at Bintel are good with the Atik stuff. Cheers
