Hi there everyone.
Same data as before.
Some selective, gentle and careful curve manipulation to keep the core under control

Thanks for looking

Hi Scott,
something has happened to the keyhole -
it looks like splotches where the stars should be.
There are also black rings around many stars.
Would you be able to post the original un-stretched stacks & let me have a go at processing?
Perhaps the keyhole was over exposed - exceeding the well depth?
Did you check the levels to see if the were over 65,000?

Otherwise - it's certainly an improvement.

cheers
Allan

Al, I know what the issue is. 15 minute subs. Full wells. Will have to reshoot shorter exposures...one day.
Thanks for the feedback

Hi Scott,
sorry to hear that.
I've been caught out like that too.
I now check every sub frame while I'm waiting for the next exposure.
I check focus as FWHM, & whether I've exceeded the well depth.

cheers
Allan

It's almost impossible not to exceed full well on the cores of bright stars with any AP set up. At f/9 my star cores are saturated even in exposures of a few seconds. However, I doubt that you've hit saturation of nebula details in 15 minute narrowband subs. So, I think what we're seeing is more likely to be processing artifacts rather than subs that are too long...

Cheers,
Rick.

Hi Scott,

I agree with Rick, and it looks to me that you might have applied star reduction to your image; please correct me if I am wrong.

From my experience, star reduction tends to distort nebulosities, thus I avoid it altogether.

Yeah I had a good good look at it today, and yes Slawomir, I did use "Make stars smaller".

There certainly are halos around the stars. Reprocessed and it looks a lot better.

I won't post. I am sure you are as sick of seeing it as I am. Tell me otherwise...

Thanks everyone:thumbsup:
