So my first decent eyepiece came today which will finally do the 10" dobsonian some justice. Heaps better than the cheapo ones that came with my small scope

Good one Jemmo! Look forward to your reports on how a 10 inch is with good EPs.
Hope you have great weather and can carry it:lol:

Well with my dodgey ep same as the one in the photo but 12.5mm I saw Jupiter with 4 moons and could make out the bands so hoping this is great even though it's wide I have a 9mm good one on its way just need better conditions to use it. I'm going camping this weekend so I'll take the dob along. Can't get clearer skies and air than the middle of no where

Jemmo, I've been enjoying your posts.

In the 26, Jupiter will appear smallish and very bright, at least in the 10". I doubt you'll see much detail, but...

....prepare to be blown away by the widefield views this 26 will give you under a dark sky, especially later in the night. I use a 28mm in my 10", and I have an OIII filter for it as well. The views of the Carina neb through this setup are literally otherworldly. But unlike some means of securing your socks to your feet, filters are not essential here. :P

The 9mm should work well on Jupiter though.
