I just can't leave well alone!
Had one final crack at reprocessing this gem.
Have to admit, I am fairly happy with it now.
Same data
Ha - 15 minute subs, 5 hours
SII - 15 minute subs - 3 hours
OIII - 15 minute subs - 5 hours
Processed with FITS liberator (love it! thanks ALPAL) and Photoshop CS6
Taken through ED80 with 0.85 focal reducer with Atik 11000 on AZEQ6

It's a bit blown out in brighter areas, Scott. I can't see the Keyhole?

Hi Scott,
Your photos are getting better and better
As Rick mentioned, perhaps more experimentation with stretching will allow preserving detail in brighter areas while bringing out fainter regions. I think you can also further improve aligning of the images.
Looking forward to seeing you next attempt at the Carina. :)
Good luck!

Thanks Rick and Slawomir.
Yes working on that. Going to do 2 different stretches and mask them together. Run out of time. Moving house!

Oh, my 10 inch newtonian has arrived. Going to attempt a 4 panel mosaic. Any tips anyone?

Lots of detail Scott, well done.
I noticed a horizontal line 1/3 of the way down, was that a stacking artefact?
Thanks

Thanks Bo.
That is a column of dead pixels on the class 2 sensor of the Atik 11000.
Removed half of it but ran out of time. Will remove the rest when I revise soon.
Once again thanks!

I have recently used PixInsight to create a 2 by 2 panels mosaic and it worked very well.

One hint from me would be to make sure you have enough overlap between the images; something between 10 and 20 %, so you have margin for cropping the edges and seamlessly stitching the panels.
Good luck with the move!

Hi Scott,
did you trouble with NASA FITS Liberator?
It's all blown out in the bright areas.
Maybe you have further stretched the brighter areas afterwards?
cheers
Allan
