A very happy new year to you all - I hope we all survived the silly season with our sanity intact?

I was perusing the local Savers on the weekend and I picked up this for $30. It was missing the eye piece, but I had a spare at home and hey, it's was only 30 freakin' bucks!

Can anyone tell me anything about it? I has the word Saxon on the side, but I haven't been able to find an exact match when I Google it. Curious to know if I got a bargain or a lemon? :)

Being typical Melbourne, there hasn't been a break in the clouds for a couple of days, so I'm yet to test it out, but it looks like it might be a good little scope.

Looks a bit like my Skywatcher 4" (SW450) but without any setting circle and adjustment stuff on it. The tripod and scope look exactly the same.

Looks to be a 4'5" F8 newt. Any other info avalable from stickers etc ?
For $30 if it works ok it's a bargain. I started with one of those and was surprised at how much it could see.
Always meant to convert it for photography but in the end my grand daughter got it.

EDIT: or 4"

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I guess the only real way to tell if it's any good is to point it to the sky and peer inside :)

Just need a cloudless night....any day now.

You could also test it during the day, but the image will be upside down of course. You could still see if it focusses alright and works fine. :)
