This is better.

I am happy with this widefield image. The DSLR just can't match the Proline CCD.

Great image Greg, lots of detail in the comet's tail and nebulousity around Pleiades.
Well done.

Wonderful shot Greg. Where did you shoot this from? You've got the Pleaides dust coming up nicely, not to mention so much of the tail.

We've had so few clear nights in Brissy I was loathe to set up a CCD widefield rig when my northern sky is so bright. Decided to leave the QHY9 on the Tak for last couple of nights.

That's a lovely image, Greg. Such a long tail and a great juxtaposition.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Bo. I am happy with how it turned out.

Thanks Leon. The Pleaides make for a nice framing.

Cheers Jo. I like your image a lot as well.

I hope you get a good image of it.

Cheers David.

The tail is massive. If you look with averted vision you can kind of see it visually (the tail that is).

Thanks very much.

Thanks for that.

Yep that is nice Greg. Excellent colour and a good near and far theme. Personally I might have angled the comet a bit more diagonally though. However that is a minor thing and I would myself be happy with that shot.

Yes diagonal would probably be a nicer orientation. I suppose I have room to try a crop.

But then again I went through hell to get this image. My filter wheel is not working for some reason and I had to remove the lens, physically move the filter wheel to the next filter with a thin allen key, then refit the lens, refocus then take the next filtered image. All the time aware that the comet was moving!

Gotta get that filter wheel fixed pronto!

I have done a rotated version and I agree this is a more pleasing framing.
Thanks for the tip Paul. Thinking about it, comets often are angled in the sky so its a natural framing. Also diagonals in general make a nice orientation for framing, especially left up to right.

Greg.

Excellent image with great colours I will have to try to process my data to see if I can do half as well as yours

Nice one, this is more or less what you'd see from way up north (hemisphere) viewing alt az :D

Thanks very much for the compliment.

Yes I think so. Although where I am I think its more horizontal - hard to tell as its almost too faint to see visually.

Dibs on a share of the award Greg.;)

On a serious note, this is so much nicer. Worth a print on metal paper now in my opinion.

Love them both.
Was this from Sydney 'burbs or your dark site Greg?

We can discuss the percentages later! Yes I should print this one.

From home in Kurrajong. Semi rural skies.
