Well, saw my first comet through my Dob last night! Looked like a little cloudy ball with a light in the middle, but still, it's WHAT you're looking at not how it looks that counts...right! BTW, in an 8" Dob, is the "tail" visible? I would assume very dark skies would be necessary? Don't really have that where I am...thanks! :)

Last night I saw the tail in a 130mm telescope but 10x50 binoculars showed it much better. If you have binoculars try bracing them on a fence post, chair etc and see if you can see a tail.

Hi Shaun

I know how you feel, Iv been watching her (are comets female like ships and cars?) through my binos for a bit now.

It has reignited my love for the stars, its such a great feeling to be looking at a comet with your own eyes.

Regards
Chris
