After my last shot, almost identical to this one, but with a bright moon and single focus, I decided to give stacked focus a go.
This is 8 images of the same scene with varying focus, aligned and then focus stacked using Photoshop.
It's a pit that I didnt wait up the few more hours to get the bright moon, but then again I would have gotten the bright Milky Way then ;-)

I do like the effect, and will definitely be trying this technique again, even if it does mean the extra work.

Well done on the focus stacking. Looks much better with the foreground in focus. I know it's a lot more work but for some locations (like this one) it's worth it.

That's a very nice image Andrew. I like that effect a lot.

Also its the range of hues you have there. The subtle greeny colour to the rocks, you got some magenta sky glow there as well which is beautiful.

Greg.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
I'll shoot it again, and this time take more shots to stack, as there are still out of focus layers close to the foreground that I would like to fix.
I also want to redo it with the moon illumination as that is totally different lighting, but I am definitely going to be focus stacking more, I love the effect.

cheers
Andrew

Great looking photo Andrew.

I have read with interest about focus stacking but have not tried it.

Looking forward to more such shots from you.

Ross.
