Summer is a great time for insects.I have seen these 'hawk moths' around just on dusk in garden,and wanting to try and photograph them.

I used a long lens- 400 mm and a flash,and had ago at getting an image-they are very very fast.Here is a couple of the better ones.Hope they are of interest.

Great shots of a difficult subject. Fascinating moths these. You can see the uncoiled extended proboscis seeking out nectar in those flowers. To me they are the "humming bird" of the Lepidoptera. Mark

What on odd looking body shape they have. Like squids with wings instead of tentacles.
