Pulpit Rock

Well, it's been a long time between drinks for me, so to speak, with a big house move and unpack, but I'm finally getting back to the nightscape imaging.
This is my pick of a new location about 5 minutes walk from my new house, so I am expecting to revisit it a number of times, as well as the many many other great spots.

This is a single shot vertical, ISO 3200, f2.8, 20 seconds.
Canon 6D, Samyang 14mm.

This location is Pulpit Rock in Mount Victoria on the edge of the Blue Mountains. Moonrise is to my left, very low on the horizon through the trees, and the lake in the foreground is a dinner plate sized puddle ;)
The camera is literally sitting on the ground for this shot.

I am going to re-shoot this image when the clouds and mist clear and this time focus stack it to get the whole shot in focus.

I'm also looking forward to winter milky way time so that I can get the galactic core rising out of the rock.

Great shot Andrew. As you say, focus stacking with this particular field of view would make for a stronger image.

By "bit of a hike" Greg, you mean the 15 seconds of huffing it form the car? :rofl:
Nah it is literally 15 seconds walk from the road, but there is a quite long hike to get to it if you follow the walking tracks.

Lot of potential in this scene for sure Andrew, this is pretty good as is but I can imagine future efforts from this spot being even better.

As presented it has an almost Thunderbirds set, feel to it and I am miniature and right down in the diorama :)
