Just finished this book, Why does E=mc2 and I understand a lot more then I did. The confusing maths that go with relativity are explained and gone through from the simple to the confusing in away that you suddenly grasp it, and say to yourself of course 'why did I think it was hard'. The edition I read was from the library but just having finished it I've bought one of my own. I can recommend this book whole heartedly.

Sounds interesting. I might just have a read of that.

Thanks, Kev

Are you going to tell us why or do we have to get the book.
Thanks for the recommendation I will have at look.

One of my favorite books. Being non-mathematical I found a couple of the maths bits a struggle to fully understand, had to sit down with a pad of paper and work it out slowly myself, but the maths is non essential to understand the book.
The idea that everything is travelling at the speed of light though spacetime, just some things travel more through space than time (eg light) and other more through space (eg us!) makes the whole idea of time dilation obvious.
The next book in the series is "Everything that can Happen, has Happened" about Quantum mechanics. (Read it while travelling in Borneo a couple of years back, jungle and Quantum theory- it was nice mix!) It is very worth while.

Sounds great - I will order it. I also found the book "Astrophysics is Easy" by Mike Inglis very helpful. Its an oldie but a goody. One of the Patrick Moore Practical Astronomy series.

Great book which completely demystified e=mc^2 for me.

Quite suitable for anyone who can grasp high school level maths and physics equations. Explains well how Einstein stumbled on the famous equation using enhanced momentum and kinetic energy equations. Highly recommended. Have lent my copy to several friends who thoroughly enjoyed it also.
