A great storm cell approaching the Hawkesbury estuary, it looked amazing from Umina. We were on the edge of the rain so I could catch the entire event.

Some really good photos in that collection Andrew. Nice bit of natural drama.

HI All and thanks for the kind words.
Marios, I used a Nikon D3s and the 24-70mm f2.8 Nikon lens. No filters were used in this series. The camera was set to A (aperture priority) with a +2/3 ev compensation at ISO 100 and f11. I have a lightning trigger by AEO called the Lightning Strike II (older model)
http://www.aeophoto.com/index.html
it catches about 1 in 12-15 lightning stikes, usually the stronger and longer lasting bolts.
The camera and detector are on an Induro CF tripod CT314 with a MH054 ball head.
During the course of the shoot I had to move the camera up the beach several times due to the rising water.
