I was lucky to be the first person to photograph one of these in our area. They are very rare and have only been seen on a couple of occasions. This fella is nearly twice the size of a Barn Owl.

Thanks Trev. The red led works with most native animals. I have used it on bandicoots, possums, even got a night shot of a Black-shouldered Kite.
Cheers Reverend.

A mighty fine Photo there Raymond, a spectacular creature
We have the occasional owl here 'in the burbs too' but havent photo'd one yet, the flash metering whilst focusing etc scares them away, so Im assuming Re: Red LED is enough for focusing without the flash going off before the shot is taken ? They can fly away then, if choose, which is all the time in my case  :thanx:

Thanks Bob. My torch is 5 watt, so you can use auto focus, although I prefer to use manual .
