I've been nibbling at this for 3 nights, mostly at low elevation and in really hot conditions with air temps of around 30C. I didn't think I'd have a chance of getting faint nebula in summer, but this K-5 and 8" F4 combo is starting to surprise me, even in hot weather.
Don't look too close lest you see warts. :P There's too many stars ! Had to Fred some of them to see the nebula better. ;) This is such a star dense region. A few hours near the meridian would be nice. Maye one year.
8" F4 Bintel Newtonian, Baader MPCC MKIII coma corrector, Baader Semi-Apo filter, about 99 minutes of mostly 1 minute subs, Pentax K-5, HEQ5 pro unguided.

That's a good image of NGC 2467 Kevin!
I like the colours, nicely done.
Really amazing considering the temps your putting up with.
Cheers,
Justin.

Thanks Justin. Yes I'm really surprised the K-5 is still working in the heat. My old K-x couldn't handle it at all.

Rather pleasing image that Kevin, has a very festive feel, appropriate for this time of year too  I am often amazed what processing can reveal from data, especially DSLR data, looking at raw subs one would think that there is essentially nothing there, then wham! :)

Thanks Mike. Yes it is sometimes surprising what can be dug out of the data. Now that I have this 8", I have to go reshoot everything that I took with the refractor last year to see how they compare lol.
nebulosity.

The colours are lovely, Kevin. There are some warts at 1:1 but I reckon they are fixable with a bit of time and effort.
Cheers,
Rick.

That's a very pretty rendition of that neb. I should have a go at this one sometime.

Thanks Jo, Rick and Cam. It's an interesting one for all size scopes, NB, RGB or OSC by the looks. I only came across it a year or two ago visually in the eyepiece.

Very nice Kevin. It looks remarkably like the Trifid at first glance.
