View Full Version here: : Farewell Jupiter
Had told myself I would let the big fella go for this year...
but you know us hapless planetary imagers:lol:
Was pleasantly surprised to see GRS transiting when the image came up on the laptop screen.
So, details. The usual: 9.25, 3x Televue Barlow, ToUcam
captured at 10fps for 60 seconds.
Gain 60%, gamma 25%, brightness 70%
Seeing 3/10
Basic processing in Registax... nothing else
Cheers

Well done, Matt. It takes true grit to keep plugging away when the seeing's poor and the planet's steadily sinking into the west. Good image for the conditions - you must be pleased with the new scope. Why only 60 secs?

Hi Matt
That is an excellent image - thanks for reminding me of how Jupiter looks. You have captured some nice detail there that belies the 3/10 seeing - well done.
Cheers
Dennis
Thanks guys.
The 60 second capture was the result of using the EQ5, which wasn't behaving itself.
I would normally go for 90+ seconds but it was such a challenge keeping the planet on the chip for a minute I didn't want to push it any longer.
