I'm such a dumbass!!!

I've been using my Baader MPCC on my QHY8 when attached to my
ED80 for recent cometary work.

Is it even needed??? It was left on as I swapped from 12" Newt, to SLR lenses and now to the ED80 and I never even realised I was using it.

As it is a coma corrector primarily for reflective Newts....what would be
the downside (if any) of using it on refractors or SLR multi element lenses?

thanks in advance.

I shudder in horror at the hours of data I have collected with it still in place......

Craig Stark of Phd fame found good results using the MPCC with the Ed 66? http://www.stark-labs.com/craig/page9/WO66SD/WO66SD.html

Never used the MPCC on the ED80 but I had a WO P-FlatIV that did the job nicely.

I haven't taken my MPCC off my camera yet, shooting through an ED80, but still find a bit of curvature in the frame. Not a great deal but noticeable. It's okay if you crop a bit around the edges.
