Dark sky sites near Mildura?

I'm toying with the idea of taking a week or so during the January new moon and heading up to NW Vic for some dark sky fun. Has anyone ever been there and/or know of good, safe dark sky sites?

If I were you I'd be heading to Lake Catani camping ground at Mt Buffalo, from past experience observing there. Altitude counts for a lot.
If you don't like the people there's a perfect oval, sheltered from the wind, and many other spots around the top of the mountain if you want to be alone.

Cheers. Sounds like it would be a good for a weekend observing trip from Melbourne. A while back I checked out the car parks at Lake Mountain, I don't think anyone hangs around there after dark so that's another option I've been fantasizing. I might actually go for a drive up to the area you mentioned and check it out in the next couple days as the weekend is forecast to be clear :)

I'm actually planning on moving to the northwest as Melbourne is doing my head in. Sick of the big smoke to be honest, and I've been to Renmark before and the skies were ridiculous.
