Hi all,

This is somewhat a fail, as need to reprocess, tho thought to post anyway, as it is still an effort which shows how DeepSkyStacker can do a comet-star Stack  :P ;)

Somehow DSS has left some Flares to the upper right of stars - I have masked out the commet & tail in an attemp to rid the 'star ghosting' in the outfield, which helped out there somewhat, tho ghosting still remains near the camet and tail, - - I will add that the tail glow is not all from the actuall tail and some glow has been left from before processing the outfield, if that makes sence...

You can still see tail right across the field amongst this glow, but I will attemp a re-pro as the data is ok i think ?

Image taken with the QHY10 OSC, gain 45, Offset 125, temp -25 @ 85% power
Scope ED80 with Reducer/correcter + 525mm if memory serves, so quite a wide field
Mount Neq6p. Guided with WO66, F6 and Orion SShooter

Thanx Alan,
I might need to change the Stacking method from Median - maybe ?
Rgds back at ya

Some nice detail in the tail Bob!

DSS is hard to work out sometimes, it's been stacking my comet images beautifully. Other times it ends up similar to what you have, I use median too.

Cheers,

Justin.

Hi Bob,

I convert to 16 bit tiff from raw, can't get along with raw's, might be worth converting fit to tiff.

Cheers,

Justin.
