Hi All,

I haven't been on here for a long time as we have moved house.

Just decided to get my telescope out and try and set it up properly but I have a little problem and that is my view to the south is blocked. Can anyone suggest the best stars in the north to use my syncscan with?

Hoping it stays clear!

Cheers

Mis

You mean like...
Sirius (in Canis Major)
Betelgeuse (in Orion)
Aldebaran (in Taurus)

Yep! they sound good....lol

Are they not too near each other to get good positioning? i always thought, rightly or wrongly, that to get good ligament you had to use two/three stars in different directions.

Can anyone confirm?

Over the last couple of years I have aligned my HEQ5 using just about
every pair of bright stars up there, and contrary to my expectations,
I have found no significant difference in Go To performance. Tonight
I used Sirius and Canopus which are quite close together, and each
target tonight was abou a third of the way out from the centre of my 25mm EP.
