Hi all,
seeking some input from more experienced members. What settings and subs do you use to shoot glob and star clusters?
I have a DSLR and normally use DSS and Photoshop for processing.
Thanks!

5 secs: http://astrob.in/69347/0/ :)

I'd go with Geoff approach though. ;)

I reckon a series of three to five mins is great for star colour and definition.
Too short and the snr can make it noisy.
too long and star colour gets washed out.

These are quite short subs as they were done on a wedge with no guiding

So how do you prevent the core from blown out in longer subs. I tried tuc47 and found that 15 sec is about the sweet spot, would love to do 5 mins, but it will just be a white patch

Balance the long shots with some short shots in DSS
