I send you this picture of M31 which required two years of waiting for the optimal conditions :
http://www.starkeeper.it/M31HA.htm (http://www.starkeeper.it/M31HA.htm)

Its a special photo that brings together data in broadband with the Ha narrowband component of the HII regions . Surely the final view is not usual.

Thanks for looking.

All the best,
Leonardo Orazi

Hi Leo,
what a magnificent shot.
I think that's one of the best I've ever seen of M31.

That is refractor power - strong colour & sharp contrast.

cheers

Hi Mike,
I am just leaning towards buying a refractor after seeing Greg sell his TEC 180.
I notice some of the best pics are from refractors.

People obviously don't pay such big money for small apertures without good reason.

cheers

Oooh yeah, love a good APO ...however, in the end apperture and speed rules, seeing not withstanding, I have noticed a significant improvement in both detail and signal build up speed with the AG12 over the 6" Starfire

Ok sorry Leo, back on topic - love your image

Yes, wonderful work - thanks for sharing.
There's something special knowing every one of those red splotches is another M42 :)

Thought I recognised that FOV too - FSQ with reducer and 8300. You've done wonders bringing out the 3 hrs of Ha.

Great shot Leonardo. Wondering why you got such a great shot, then I noticed you are in Italy. At the moment from where I am, M31 is about 15 degrees above the northern horizon.

What an amazing image. I must have literally seen 100's of M31 images and that is a standout. Really good work. It also shows how well the KAF8300 chip works on shorter focal length refractors. That seems to be where it excels.

Is that an extended star halo or a tidal stream from M31 down at the bottom left of the image.

Don't think I've seen an M31 with such prominent HA regions, really make it pop.:)

Justin.
