View Full Version here: : SMART-1 vs The Moon
This crash landing of the SMART-1 spacecraft on the moon hasn't been timed well for us to see...... pity....

Might be worth a look, just in case of :eyepop:

Just recieved the same email a while ago. Got quite excited until I did the time conversion. O well, we miss out again.
i guess the score is:
moon : 1
smart1 : 0
shame, it would have been good to watch

I hope some amateurs get an image of it.

Thanks for the heads up Lee. Taking the estimated impact time from the NASA website as:
"The time to watch: Saturday, September 2nd at 10:41 p.m. PDT (Sept. 3rd, 0541 UT)."
I plotted the event in The Sky and this converts to Sept 3rd at 3:41 pm AEST. Here is the chart.
Cheers

That's visible for us, during the day..
Thats what I'm saying.... since we are GMT/UT/Z +10 on the east coast currently it is a daytime event - so unless NASA is about 10 magnitudes off in their estimation of brightness, there won't be anything to see..... :(
yes by visible you mean invisible right? ;)
