Summer's Grand Opening

Managed to capture some of the storm that passed through my way recently. The Summer storms have started early!

I miss lightning storms; we don't get them in NW Tasmania except as very watered down attempts.

Good ones Nathan. The thunderstorms around here tend to happen in the afternoon so even with a lightning trigger, an ND8 filter and ISO100 it's hard to capture strikes.

Yesterday's storm had a hit close enough that the flash and bang were as good as simultaneous. We haven't worked out yet which tree got hit.

They're definitely something I missed while living in Launceston. I did manage to almost get struck by lightning while walking back to my university accommodation while there though. It was only 10 metres away; I could feel the heat from the strike. I don't think I've run faster in my life!



I think I got lucky with these. The sun had just set and I kept the f-stop down a bit. I was manually triggering the camera using my intervalometer, would love a lightning trigger though.
