Nice John,

What equipment are you using?

Superb John. There's a lot of detail in the trapezium region when you blow it up. The original version (ie not the jpeg on Astrobin) must be really spectacular.

It's the all reflecting refractor from Astro Physics. 305mm f/3.6 modified Riccardi-Honders that Roland builds. And a very old STL11000 ccd camera.

The 16 bit .tiff file is excellent. I find that all Astrobin images loose a bit of depth and luster.

I've already modified the image slightly by adjusting the curves a bit around the trapezium region to where the stars pop a bit more. Then fussed a bit with the dark clouds trailing away from M43. But that has not been posted.

This should be shot with one of the newer smaller pixel cameras to resolve even more around the Trap, then blend that in. But I think OIII and SII should simply be next.

Beautiful, John!

I've noticed that Astrobin appears to strip the ICC Profile from images it displays which explains why images never look quite the same...

Cheers,
Rick.
