Well second hand actually but I got a SBIG STT-8300m with self guiding filter wheel. Thanks Graham. I thought I would post it anyway. 17 x 5 minute subs with auto dark subtract on at -20c.

Williams Optics Flt 110 on an Astrophysics 1100GTO. Luminance only and used Maxim DL V6 to capture and control guiding. A learning curve.

Great flame. With your cooled camera and self guiding working for you, looks like you could safely take longer subs.

Off to a good start. Auto dark subtract would be a single dark taken after the first sub. I guess that's not bad but ideally a master dark would be made from something like 16 subexposures. Then again the 8300 chip is pretty clean usually. -20C is bit on the warm side though.
Your STT should be capable of a bit better than that all year round (which is convenient so the master dark is useful all year round with the exception that darks can go stale after a longish period).

Stars are quite good but I'd say at a guess your polar alignment could take a tad more refinement to make them even rounder.

Greg.

A great start, Mark  You'll be doing 30 minute narrowband subs in no time :)
