Hi,

Another image at ISO 6400 and I'm chuffed how its come up.:)

This is by far the bets M45 I've done to date.

8" F/4 astrograph HEQ pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.

Unmodded canon 1100D, baader type III coma corrector.

15 x 2 minute and 31 x 1 minute subs ISO 6400. Stacked in DSS, processed in PS Cs2.
Image cropped.
Cheers,

Justin.

nice work Justin you managed a fair bit of dust there!

its a bit low for me when its visible from my imaging spot.

seems like you're going to keep on using iso 6400 for the time being?

cheers

You captured heaps of reflection nebulosity there, Justin. Very nice!

Thanks Russell!

I'm enjoying using 6400. you can get in 2 minutes what it takes 10 in ISO 800.
Solves all sorts of problems with tracking issues on long exposures and the extra subs means noise is reduced when stacking.

Thanks Laurie!

Never gets very high from this latitude so I'm happy with how much faint stuff there is.

Thanks Peter!

Cheers,

Justin.

Came out well Justin. I nearly targeted this last week, but got distracted by comets, as usual.

Thanks Kevin!

Certainly been a good year for comets, some of the best conjunctions I've seen.

really impressive! Yet another win for the SLR or mirrorless (:) ) crowd

PLEASE post to a decent image hoster though! I'd like to see it without the fly-wire in front of it..

Thanks David!

Marc said he had problems imaging it too. Is it something to do with light pollution?

Justin.

Not for me, initially it was poor processing skills. My issue now is handling blooming with my current setup. It's not made for clusters with bright stars, which is fine.

You really captured the sisters well. Love the nebulosity. I haven't been able to get it right yet. My stars are all blown out when I do get the gas. Haven't learned to layer things yet. Is that how you did this one?

Mighty Fine Astro-imaging Justin, i quite like this - speshly with the vertical/horizontal spikes, really tidy's things up with this cluster - diggin them Wispy details too
Um, whats that word - yeah , grouse, thats it - Grouse result :D
I wanted to tinkle with this target last new moon but weather here was Not good, well, good for ducks :P
Rgrds

Edit: BTW, can I save this image for reference for when I get some light of this target, Thanx ?

Thanks Bob!

I do like diffraction spikes, especially on the sisters.
One thing I'm stickler for is making sure the camera is aligned square as possible.
For me it looks better if the spikes are square to frame.

Yep, no worries about using it for reference.
Never bothered with water marks, figure if anybody wants it it's a compliment.:)

Up your way again in January for my daughters 30th. I shall probably melt into a puddle with the humidity.
