Hi,
I've imaged NGC 1269 before and thought I'd try using ISO 6400 as it seems to help with colour intensity.
Well, it didn't.
This is the most colourless galaxy I've imaged!
A good challenge for those with better equipment.
8" F/4 astrograph HEQ pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.
Unmodded canon 1100D, baader type III coma corrector.
17 x 2 minute subs ISO 6400 and 6 x 5 minute ISO 1600. Stacked in DSS, processed in PS Cs2.
Image cropped.
Cheers,
Justin.

Fine image Justin. I remember this galaxy as comet 2013 A1 flew by it a couple of months ago.

Nice image Justin. This galaxy is pretty bland in showing small detail. It's just the overall structure that is interesting. I got it a while back with a bit more colour but no more detail http://www.astrobin.com/30696/. I don't think any scope under 20" or so is going to show much more detail.

Yep, remember it now, one of yours images wasn't it?
Thanks Geoff!
Just checked your 1269, nice!
Your right though, a big scope and lots of hours.
Cheers,
Justin.

Don't recall seeing that one before Justin. Certainly is a trifle monochrome but a nice shot nevertheless.

Hi Justin,
I think you did remarkably well considering this image
with a much larger scope & a CCD doesn't have much colour either:

Thanks for that link too, nice to see comparisons.
Dark skies really helped with this one.
Cheers,
Justin.
