Well.

After months of just missing out I've finally secured a much longed-for 24mm Panoptic on Astromart:D

It's in excellent condition and I saved about $100 on what it would have cost if I'd bought new.

This should be a nice performer in the 9.25 (98x) and give lovely low mag wide views in the 8"f5 (42x)

I'm also told it makes an awesome combo with a 2x barlow for planets in the 9.25.

Will let you know how it performs when it arrives in the next few days.

Nice one, Matt! I'd like one (maybe two :D) of those too - not likely to happen for a while.

Big shiny black eyepieces with green writing on them do tend to make people happy :)

I have one myself and yes its a very nice eyepiece. However for me it doesnt barlow well in my f5 dob, hopefully it will work better in the sct.

Yes. That's the plan Geoff.

Like I said in my original post, barlowed in the 2x in the SCT for planets (although that's not what I bought it for), and native in my 8" f5:)

I really plan to mainly use it native in the 9.25 for DSO

Congrats - Rocket Boy's 24mm pano was the best out of the 22pan, 22lvw and the 24pan. It was sharp right to the edge in my scope, a lovely EP.

Nice one Matt :) 2.4mm pupil will work very nicely on the C9.25 for medium power deep sky work.

I regard the 24mm Panoptics as one of the best Televues ever designed, very light and contrasty with excellent eye-releif . Unfortunately I'm going to have to buy another one for my up and coming 14" F4.5 binocular :(

Cheers guys.

Can't wait for it to arrive.

Some very nice visual targets to go chasing over the next few months, what with the (big) planets being unfavourably placed. Good ol' nebs, globs and galaxies etc are now the focus.

I'm also planning on picking up a nice Lumicon UHC filter to help with the eyeballing.

No apology needed Andrew. I enjoyed the laugh.

Matt, congratulations on the Pan. I just purchased a pair for my Denk II's and the views are exceptional. even used in cyclops mode it is likely to become a favorite. The 31mm T5 is amazing and heavy, heavy, heavy. Since I don't have a 26mm T5 (yet) the Pan will get a lot of use.
