Hi All,

We are 3 French guys ( nobody is perfect ;) ) and we have settled a remote observatory in Chile at Alain's Maury facilities in order to discover the southern hemisphere wonders !

We would like to share our results with you, and also get some inspiration as some images here are really impressive !

Our set-up is:
Tak TOA-150 refractor with Apogee Alta U16M CCD camera on a custom English cross axis mount which is convenient with long refractors !
Astrodon Ha 3nm filter
Prism software

Stop talking now, here is the image:http://www.nightpixels.net/APO/LMC/v_LMC_champ1-3_APO-Team_v2.jpg

Full image ( 23Mb) is here:

Richard

Well all I can say Richard is Wow, what a truly impressive result. to you and your team. Not sure if this is a work in progress and you guys intended to add some colour or other narrowband data.

Oh, and welcome to IIS to you and your mates.

Awesome image Richard, thank you for sharing.

I am planning to make a mosaic of this area as well, but I will be shooting from a very light polluted area.

Hi All,

Thank you all for your kind comments !

@Hans Tucker: yes, this mosa is in progress, we'll add some other views in Ha. Also a true LRGB mosa is in progress.

@Slawomir: if you shoot with heavy light pollution, all I can advice is to get a very narrow band filter if you can afford it and get a large number of subs.

@Rex: we still don't know if we'll add colour to his Ha data or use true LRGB image... may be a mix of both ;)

@RickS: ok I'll be happy to come back on this forum ! If you want to see more including the obseravtory set-up, please check:

@RobF: Prism is an excellent software, alternative to MaximDL, CCD commander and more. I could not do anymore without it. It is written by French guy Cyril Cavadore, but there is an English version ;)

@Stevec35: LOL !

Thank you Multiweb and Marcus ,

Thanks for the advice Richard.

I have been using 12nm filters but just ordered a 3nm Halpha from Astrodon to test it and hopefully see a significant improvement over my current filters :-)

Looking forward to seeing your complete mosaic... :eyepop:

Welcome in this forum Richard and all the rest of your team,
It is really great result at the moment. I'm waiting about the OIII & SII version to see a nice colour image ;) because we can't only get the Ha version :D
Also congratulations about your nice adventure and your nice erection for this setup to Chile. I would like to get possibility to got there because I know the Southern sky when I have been in Australia and also in Caledonia and I can imagine with my TSA what I could do.
I thinking now about the TOA 150 but my mount will be too small after that :(
Franck ;)
