Hi all,

Is anyone heading up to the Pony Club tonight?

I hear a rumour that we might get the rare chance to view the heavens through a 28 inch Wild Thing!!

If the heavens are clear I am hoping to head up there.

Hi all, just confirming Phil Townsend and I will be there at 7. The 28" is a definite, with newly fixed mirror!! Come, or be disappointed!

So what happened guys? Newcastle was totally clouded out, so I stayed home.

Mate
The views through "Wild Thing" extraordinary
A bit cloudy at first Rod kept us in stitches reading from his observing log.
After 10:30 it really suddenly cleared up, just after we had packed up.

Yes, big thanks to Phil for lugging the Wild Thing to the Pony Club.

The skies were playing games with us. There was a hint of the sky clearing for several hours, it never really did, so we packed up, only for the skies to clear perfectly at about 11pm just after everyone except Geoff and I were left. We still enjoyed naked eye views of the sky - Orion looked stupendous!

We only got to see a few targets through Wild Thing - Mars, Gamma Delphinium, 47 Tuc, and mystery galaxy in Pavo (the Argo Navis batteries died on us).

Great the have the lads come down (up) from the Mountains to join us. Thanks guys for your company!

Hopefully we'll have better luck next month.
