After a successful Do It Yourself Full Spectrum Mod of my Sony Nex-3 I picked up a very cheap Sony Nex-5n on ebay and tried a Do It Yourself Full Spectrum Mod, it seems to work well, the Nex-5n is a 16mp and has IR remote shutter, much better than the Nex-3 with no remote shutter. I reversed the mod to the Nex-3 and it is now my wife's happy snap camera so she is happy I spent $200 on the Nex-5n. I am starting to get to know my way around the inside of these Sony Nex Series cameras.
This was just a 5 x 3min unguided sub test so with just 15 mins data at iso 1600 it is not very detailed and has a bit of noise with much more data lower iso and darks added it should become a better setup than the Nex-3, just need some dark clear sky.
5 x 3 min subs at iso 1600 (unguided)
12" Meade LX200gps at f6.3 (alt/az De-rotated setup)
Sony Nex-5n Full Spectrum Modified
