I must let my very nice GSO 8" f5 imaging/visual newt go to a new home to make room for the 10" newt I am building. This GS-630 got me started on imaging and produced some great results. At f5 it is not as hard to collimate as the f4 version, and coma is much easier to deal with (I use a Baader MPCC coma corretor on my DSLR). This scope was purchased in July of this year so it's only 4 months old, and it is in like new condition.
While advertised as an imaging newt (which means it is configured to allow a camera to achieve focus) it can be used visually with the included 35mm extension tube.
The specifications are: GS-630 imaging OTA (as per the one on the Andrews Website).
8" f/5, fl 1000mm, 2" M-CRF OTA reflector has 2" Crayford style 10:1 microfocuser w/1.25" adaptor, primary mirror cooling fan, 8x50 finderscope and large collimation knobs.
(200mm x 1000mm). Inc. wide cast tube rings with guide scope mounting points.
I will include both the originally provided short Vixen style dovetail and a long Vixen style dovetail (which allows wider spacing of the rings). The original shipping box and foam supports etc are included for safe transport.
The only modification I have done is to put a fan baffle on the rear of the scope to direct airflow over the surface of the mirror and enclosed the rear to direct all air around the mirror (no bounce back). The mirror is very clean still, and its always stored covered.
Photo are attached, and you can see the air baffle around the inside of the tube just above the mirror.
Note that the guidescope, guide camera, and top dovetail bar (as shown mounted in the photos) are not included in this sale - those items are moving to the new scope.
The scope weighs 9kg (net) which includes the cast rings, finder, etc - this is the figure on the box. It should be comfortable on any HEQ5 type mount. I have used it on my NEQ6.
The new price for this scope is $449 plus shipping from Andrews or Bintel. I am asking $300 if picked up at Lake Macquarie NSW, shipping will be provided within Australia by Startrack at buyers expense.
PM me here if interested.
