Following on from my Tarantula image, I was inspired by Paul Haese's recent wonderful post of NGC 2020 & friends to have a look at this region in NB as well.
It's by no means a copy of his work, just a starting point for an image.

Is it just me or do these objects on the centre and right look like 2 weird little alien things being chased by a larger crablike alien thingy on the left? Or maybe I've just been looking at it too long!

Wanted do have an all night imaging run on this but sadly the clouds rolled in before it was half complete. This is an hour of Ha 15 min subs, 2 hrs of OIII 15 min subs and 6 x 2min subs of each for the core details. I'm loving the convenience of shooting from the backyard under the moonlight :D

The clouds prevented more Ha and any SII so it's bicolour or BW only so far, and it seriously needs bucket loads more data, but I kinda like the composition. What do you folks think?

Hi Andy, nice details in these, they do seem a tad dark however on my monitor.

I like the B&W shot in particular and to me the one on the left looks like a turtle coming to the surface and the ones on the right its prey ...Jellyfish ;)

Thanks Rex, needs heaps more data, but here's a revised/reprocessed version, maybe it's better?

Cool Ian, it certainly is an area full of strange and wacky forms - someone else said they saw Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet :)

Very fine. Nice composition. Might be fun to add more OIII one day.

Looks sharp with good detail. Lots more data will help with the noise control. The SII in this area is very thin, so if you commit to that these get as much as you can.

Thanks Placidus, yes more data is desperatly required! This is very under cooked and its such an interesting region. Sure deserves more attention :)

Hey thanks for taking the time to comment Paul! And thanks for inspiring me to visit this region of space. There's a lot going on there as you well know. I loved your treatment in your recent post as well. I'm very new to NB having just graduated to 15min Ha subs but it seems that SII needs even more!

Hoping to revisit as soon as the clouds go away ...

Cheers
