Hi all,

Here's a snap of Mars, M8 and M20 from a couple of weeks ago:

http://www.astrobin.com/134828/

Details @ Astrobin :)

I was lucky to get it - I was actually meant to be hunting C/2013 A1 but this happened to be nearby and very picturesque so couldn't help but make a half reasonable effort of it :)

Quite a minimalist set of equipment - Canon 6D on old Megrez 80 SD, on Astrotrac.

Regards,
Roger.

Nicely done. Uniting huge differences in scale and time. I like the colour contrast between the cool magenta-blues of the nebulae versus the warm hues of interloper Mars (which one can almost feel moving) and dust-obscured star fields.

Thanks Barry

Funny you mention the differences in scale. I forgot to attach an annotated version which was actually the first version of this I published on my FB page (https://www.facebook.com/astrophotographyaustralia) , because the scale grabbed my attention too. Attached here now. Largest: http://astrophotography.com.au/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Mars-M8-M20-by-Roger-Groom-annotated.jpg

A great capture Roger, a reasonably rare image I'd imagine
