Comet C/2012 K1 (PanSTARRS) in a galaxy field in Dorado. Low altitude as I had to beat the rising Moon. 9 x 30 seconds, 8" F4, Pentax K-5.

Awesome shot. Very interesting to see the comparison in angular size between the comet and those galaxies.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks Ivan. The comet is just past close approach to Earth so it will get smaller from now on.

A conjunction worth imaging.:)
Certainly a lot of fun this year.

Very nicely done! Too many clouds here recently to have a go at this conjunction, glad you caught it. Definitely fun to see the comparison between the comet and the galaxies

Thanks Mike and Andy.
The clouds limited from going longer but I got enough to get a piccy at least.

Great shot there Kev.
I was onto this Sunday night myself, comet was a little further right in this field and I was testing the my new camera and OAG only to find the OAG image was flipped horisontally when I was framing the shot so before I could get it realigned it totally clouded over so I didn't get the shot a real bummer.
Glad to see you got it though, good stuff.

That's rotten luck Ken. :(
Clouds are always a pest. One of the reasons I want a fast optical system so I can shoot in sucker holes.
