After some considerable time the Ovision worm for my G11 arrived from France and (after waiting for the right screws) I had it fitted and ready to go.

Installation and adjustment was much easier than I thought it would be and the Ovision folk were very helpful

The first test last night proved very successful. The curve is quite smooth and my PE is reduced from my stock ~9 arc sec to ~ 4.5.

I was able to do some unguided imaging up to 5 mins and guided up to whatever my light polluted skies would bear.

All in all I am very happy

Have you posted this on the yahoo discussion for G11? You might get some comparable comments there?
:)

No I never thought of the yahoo group. Be interesting to see any comparisons

Thanks

These look very interesting. I am imaging with a starlapse no dec axis so autoguiding is not possible really. So getting the maximum length unguided is important to me. I use camera lenses so I get long unguided exposures now but I'm thinking with the lower PE and more regular PE ( I don't see the infamous spike ) the stars would look better as well as getting longer exposures.

I noticed that the length of the actual worm is a lot shorter than Losmandy's. What is the period of that puppy? I can't find anything on why they went with the shorter length I'm thinking the shorter it is the easier it is to get it all perfect as possible.

Ease of adjustment is a huge plus to me. And one piece design means you won't get the blocks out of alignment.

For my use I'm wondering if I could get away with his high precision setup. Not sure I'd benefit. Its sure tempting though :)

The worm period is still 4 minutes. I don't think that changed when I swapped the worms over.

I'm thinking of the GM-8 which is what the StarLapse is basically. Its period is twice the GM-11. Guess the Ovision for the GM-8 is different.

Yes. It does say you can get one for the G8 on their website
