The linked video gives an idea of how much care is taken when you entrust your astro gear to a freight company - anyone surprised? Liked the guy on the left who picked up a heavy one - really had to exert himself to get it to tumble properly.

It doesn't surprise me!
I sent a telescope to the east and it was well packed, and undamaged when it left here, but was received damaged. Of course, I did the right thing and resolved the damage very quickly, to the recipients satisfaction. I couldn't claim it on insurance though, as the outside of the package wasn't damaged, and I would have had a hard time proving it was damaged during transit. And, it was also sent as delicate freight.
It cost me about $400 to fix, so it hurt big time! :mad2:
So much for paying fort the extra insurance. Insurance on freight is a scam!

Sack the lot of them - I have seen similar things at airports with baggage. If you have no pride in what you do (regardless!) you do not deserve employment.

Ha!
As a uni student back in the 80s, I used to work temporary night shift at OzPost every christmas (in the days when post was the dominant form of communication!).
We were shown how to toss parcels 3-5 metres into destination-sorting bins.
The long-standing joke was that there were 2 ways to split the atom: the Einstein-physics approach, or by putting an atom into a parcel labelled 'fragile' and send it OzPost!
Seems like nothing has changed....
I figure the only way to thwart the 'tossers' is to include 18 kg of lead or concrete with your item so as to make the package non-tossable!

I too have been the victim of poor handling of baggage at airports.
Metal boxes inside and wrapped in thick bubblewrap. Dented. Broken bottles and other damage.
I found Qantus to be the worst offender in my experience.:mad2:
