Hi all,
was out getting some more colour on another object and after, was looking for a quick image... have never really worried about the SMC as the objects within are relatively small even with my previous 8" scope and only had my Orion ED80 for about a year or more, so haven't really had the chance.
The SMC is very reminicent of Barnards Galaxy. Amazing the amount of young stars in one of our closest galaxies. Lots of little planetaries as well.
Went for realtively short exposures so the HII areas are quite muted even with cranking up the saturation.:(
Of course a run of Ha subs blended with the red channel would have done the job nicely, but clouds were threatening to the south, so any thought of that was canned.
This is only a part there of image of the object, I think I might do a mosaic to get the full extent down the track.
Here's a link to my front page, hit the right thumb...

Sorry for not uploading this image, I'm over my limit with bugpond.
Hope you've been getting out.

Cheers for now:thumbsup:

Rich,

So much detail and those planetaries look beautiful.

Simply magnificent.

Nice image Rich! Will you be adding more time to the image once the clouds go?

Hi Houghy, thanks for the comments!
I actually was thinking of a mosaic, but then thought some Ha while the moon was still out.
But my aquisition computer is giving me some grief so I'm doing some problem solving at the mo....
So, once I sort the prob out, will do some Ha tonight.
Might bring out the knotts a bit better.
But then again the Grus Trio might be nice and leave the Ha till tomorrow night with the moon, provided the sky stays clear.... and pending the computer.

Aaah the joys :))
Cheers
Rich
