Sagittarius area in IR

Here's my other shot from BSG 2014 with a RGB reference. The footprint in Sagittarius, which outline is still visible in infrared. You can barely see the core of the lagoon in the heel and a little bit of the trifid in the field.

There's a 50% fov here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/M8_ir_rgb_fff.jpg) [2890x1080 - 3.4MB] and a HD version here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/M8_ir_rgb_HD.jpg) [1920x718 - 1.7MB].

Can't really go past M8. It's un-Australian. Thanks for looking. ;)

Excellent work again Marc, I recall the Trifid was extremely faint in IR when I tried it, which fits with your data. The Lagoon is more prominent.

Have you tried mixing IR with one of the colour channels in a RGB image? I guess red would make the most sense.

I find for an ST-10XME using Astrodon filters, NIR in the red channel produces a good colour balance with equal exposures for the RGB channels.

Thanks guys. :thumbsup: As Steven mentioned you can do some cool blends. I bicolor trials in the past with straight LUM. Fascinating shot. The "footprint" is very sharp in infrared (which surprised me a tiny bit). Good being able to see the side-by-side comparison.
