A quick timelapse from Border Stargaze 2014.
I took this on the Tuesday night, I got there a bit early, and the Friday night.

They were all ISO1600, 20 seconds at f2.8 with my 5DmkII and 28mm f1.8 :D

Nice. Almost like daylight shooting. Noise free.

The mkII is pretty good at 1600, though the cold temperature helped, especially on the Tuesday night. You can see a fair bit more noise on the shots from the Friday night when it was warmer.
I've also done a bit of noise reduction when I exported the images out of Lightroom.

Great work Hugh  I think I spotted myself in a couple of frames standing around talking to the imaging guys on the tennis court. Hope you enjoyed your time at BSG.

Thanks, yeah the first few shots and the last shot were on the Tuesday night before BSG actually started. The shot of the imaging area and the one after it of me at my site were on the Friday night during BSG and there is a lot less park lighting as most of the lights were changed to red bulbs.

Well shot, lots of movement. Sound track is a bit loud though......

There's no soundtrack Fred. What you're hearing is the feedback of all those years of punk riffs on your rickenbaker :P
That's excellent Hugh, really enjoyed that.

Great watch that Hugh  one of the best time lapses of a star party that captures what it is like to be there, that I have seen :)

I was enjoying it so much I was sad to see it end so quick...could you make it longer next year please? :P
I assume it was local lighting that was ilumiating the scene so well?..goes to show why pro observatories generally ban all lighting no matter how trivial.

I'll have a word to the organisers and request a couple of extra clear nights next year ;)
Especially in the first few shots, taken on the Tuesday night, there was still all the normal caravan park lights on. Even on the Friday when the park lights had been changed to red lights there were still other, non astronomer, guests staying at the park so many had their lights on - there was one cabin near me that left their lounge room lights on all night...
If you need another fix you can watch my IISAC timelapse from this year:

Hey Hugh,
Thanks for loading ..... Great timelapse.
Paul
Great timelapse Hugh. The ambient lighting doesn't look out of place aesthetically (a bit of an HDR feel during the first 10s) but would have been annoying I'm sure.
How long were the longest sequences in real-time?
