Hi All,

Attached is a photo of Albireo. I only recently noticed, after zooming in, that the yellow is dominant on one side of the star and the blue is dominant on the other. Is this an unavoidable chromatic aberration or is it caused by being slightly out of focus or collimation etc.

FYI, the photo was taken with a 14" goto dob, 4 seconds, ISO 200.

Thanks,

Duncan

Look good :-)
Re CA.. Dob.. Newtonian?
Did you take this in prime focus or through eyepiece?
If eyepice was in place, then this CA came from it (or any other lens system, field flattener or whatever)

Hi,

I took the photo at prime focus. I only really took the photo as a focus test before moving onto fainter objects.

could be chromatic dispersion caused by the atmosphere or a coma corrector if you were using one? does the camera have an IR/UV cut?

put it into Registax and choose RGB align to line up the channels.
