Horse Head

Just wanted to share my first Horse head attempt from last weekend.
Was a real challenge for me with the warmer weather my un-cooled/un-modded ASi120mm is starting to struggle.

I have to capture with less Gain to keep the noise down.I found that makes it difficult as i have to stretch the hell out of the image to brighten it.
Im also starting to get vertical lines down the image when stretching.

I shot this over 2 nights in LRGB 60 sec subs and darks.

Great image & nice sharp stars for a ASi120mm camera using LRGB filters and warm conditions , your camera has a small sensor and limited field of view which makes deep sky photography even harder , great work . However your sn8 is a fast scope which helps with exposure and field of view. Were you guiding ? I used to have an lxd55 SN10 and found it a great scope except for the focuser which I think they improved in the LXD75 series. awesome imgage,mate. I really impressed with what you´ve got out of that camera. the lines, you´ve mentioned in your post, I presume there are noise artefacts brought out through stacking. Dithering might fix it.

Yes real shame the sensor is so small if it wasnt for my F4 SN8 deepsky would be to annoying for me to bother using the Asi.

I don't have any guiding unfortunately :(. I think it would be cool to see how well the asi went with longer exposure.

The Sn8 is my first telescope i was lucky that it came with a replaced motorized focuser and i was able find some Ascom drivers so i can operate it via my laptop.The scope is a bit old and beat up but im happy with it so far considering that the Asi 120mm-s cost more than what i paid for my whole setup.



Max i dont know what dithering is but ill be looking it up to see if it can help thanks.

very nice Michael the HH is very faint which makes it difficult with non cooled cameras! but you've done a very nice job here. I like the deep red colour.
