Hi Guys, this is the imaging run I was doing the other night when I took the Rosette. Lost about 50% of the subs dew to passing clouds stuffing up the guiding, so would have been a cracker if that hadn't happened. Anyway still turned out ok. I was surprised to see how many background fuzzies there were so I attached a plate solved annotated version from PI as well.
34 x 300sec @ ISO1600 with the gear in my signature.

Great image Rex, tried 253 over the weekend but the clouds in Melbourne had other ideas and I only managed about 10 subs of 2 mins each.

Thanks very much guys for all the comments and encouragement. This is definitely one of my best results.

I didn't really think about where I was posting this, so I apologize if I offended anyone by posting it in this forum. It wasn't an intentional thing, I just posted it where I always post my images. I will have to give some thought to it in future before I post. :)

I have no problems if the Mods want to remove it.

Great shot Rex! Nice colour too; mine's looking quite sick and green compared to yours here. Need to fine tune my colour calibration I think.

Not to detract from a really good shot, but I've noticed there's something unusual going on with the stars on the left of your frame. If you look closely, some of the larger stars, particularly in the top left, seems to have odd colour fringing where they're red on one side but not on the other. The effect seems to become less apparent to the right where it ends up looking equal. MIght be something there to tweak going forward.

What sort of camera were you using here? Mono or OSC? I had a similar problem recently when shooting mono that I think in the end was a combination of not refocusing between colour filters and the front element accumulating a very slight amount of condensation in the green frames.

Hi Lee, Thanks for the feedback mate. Yes I did notice the stars, I used to have some really bad focuser tilt at one stage and I spent about 3 hours one Saturday afternoon totally dismantling the focuser, secondary and the spiders. After re-assembly it was much better but still a small amount was apparent. I have been slowly adjusting it some more each session to hopefully eventually get rid of it. I also think it has something to do with deconvolution, as this process seems to make it worse. I have been playing with settings etc to try and eliminate it but as you know the learning curve is steep, I'll get there just takes time. My camera is a modded 1100D. Not cooled although this coming wet season I am hoping to do a peltier cooling mod on it.
