Late M16 with FLT132 and 2x powermate
Late M16 with FLT132 and 2x powermate
This is a single 15min Ha frame (no fancy processing yet) taken with STT-8300m and WO FLT132 + TeleVue 2x Powermate.
I wasn’t sure if this optical train combination would work, but as you can see the stars are pretty round everywhere, so I shall have some fun tonight whilst processing the rest of Ha+O3+RGB frames ..
Thanks for looking …

That's a very juicy refractor, Ian. And with the PowerMate, the framing of the Eagle is very nice. You've caught a lot of faint stuff in only 15 min.

Thanks Mike
:thanx:

It is a juicy refractor and together with x2 powermate it offers the FL of 2x925mm = 1850mm .. pretty happy with that .. :D

Very interesting. How does the power mate work do you lose a stop or two of speed? How does it effect the overall image quality?

Without any extra optics the FLT132 is rated F7. The 2x Powermate, in theory, should multiply this number by 2, so F14. I don’t want to put any exact number here, but visually, for Ha filter, 15min exposure looks pretty much the same as 10min exposure without the PowerMate.
And, again - visually, I haven’t notice deterioration in image quality. :)

I Like that image.

Did you use only the Barlow lens or did you combined it with a field flattener?
Oh,.. also, did you use the 2" powermate version?

Thanks Geert.
:thanx:

It's just 2" 2x powermate with an extra extention to allow the focus to be in adjustable range.
:)
