Hello,

It has been a lean year!

October and I have only managed 2 dark site visits all year.

This photo is from my trip to Coonabarabran in July. Four beautiful clear nights.

IC4601 in Scorpius.
It looks like an earring on the Blue Horse Head Nebula.

230 minutes total exposure comprising of 14 frames of 20 minute and 10 minute exposures.
Darks but no flats.

Televue NP101, 101mm, F5.4 Refractor.
QHY8L OSC CCD.
Skywatcher EQ6Pro Mount.
WO 66mm Guidescope.
QHY5-II Guide Camera.

Guiding with PHD2.
Capture with EZYCAP.
Processing with DeepSkyStacker and Photoshop CS2.

What do you think?

The photo is here http://smu.gs/1ssGX0K

Thanks for looking.

Ross.

Ross,

Definitely a gold ear-ring. Subtle wispy detail in the blue reflection nebula. Had a look around your web-site. Quite stunning! Your Comet Lemon complete with SMC, 47 Tucanae, and iconic Australian windmill was especially beautiful.

Very best,
Mike

Thank you Mike.

Glad you like the website as well. It has been slow work but hopefully I can organise all my photos ( astro and non astro) onto it.
At the moment I have tens of thousands of photos sitting on hard drives all over the place, never to be seen.

Ross.

Thank you Erik.

It is a dim object and I could not find many other photos of it so it was a bit of a gamble but a nice surprise.

I have only been to Coonabarabran twice this year and with November nearly over I don't like my chances of another trip, but...fingers crossed!
