Ok, FWIW, I actually enjoyed the scenery with the clouds drifting through, better than having solid cloud and seeing nothing.
This is my home at Runaway Bay, complete with light pollution, clouds, and gusty winds...I kept the 14" under cover all night. All images taken with the North group 80F6 triplet and a Canon 600D.

Would have been better from your old place?
I still like it.
I did one a couple of years ago where cloud nearly ruined it.
I got some great images. Well for me anyway!!

Surprisingly Jen, imaging from Runaway Bay is much better than at Windaroo which is only 35km to the north cos the seeing conditions are much steadier due to the even laminar airflow from the Pacific Ocean nearby. Sure light pollution renders the background greyer than at Windaroo, but images are much sharper here, so its amazingly good for supernova searching!! As part of my ongoing supernova searching, I am constantly changing my old reference images taken at Windaroo since 2010 to images taken from here, only 10km's north of Surfer's Paradise...crazy eh??
I now know why Eddie Trimarchi's images are so sharp too, he's only 2km's away from me.
