I ended up driving out to Dunedoo then coming back to a hamlet of Craboon. Didn’t get the full post eclipse as I packed up and left just after 11pm – power failed for me but I do have some happy snaps – getting home at 2:30am and at work early this morning
will be doing processing later:help:
lots of story to this trip - will add later

Nice shots David. Travelling was a better option for me too.
Very very nice closeups there Dave !
Turned out well and that looks like a great spot you found there.
... but oh the memories of Lunar Eclipses of the past, ah those were the days.

thanks Mike - the jetstream was howling over the top and it was a mission to get focus. the other thing which didnt help was the gusty SW-W winds

yes i did but if i was polar aligned it would have been better - would have tried for longer exposures at low iso. I did find uranus ;)
moonrise for me was extra special - i could see it

I can relate to that. My PA was an issue and I missed part of the first half. I think the fact it started so early didn't give us much time to muck around. Ideally a day before to set up would have been good.
The worst for me was that I got the Pentax K mount for the SONY camera. so John gave me some electrical tape to fit the camera at the back of the scope. It did hold long enough.

and there it is - the twist - the challenge to pursue this no matter what  classic. i duct taped the guide scope and piggy backed camera once. it was hard to remove the glue afterwards after being out a day or two.
really it is the journey that makes these event even more special. I was going to stay at home originally and pray for a sucker hole but after the passing of Barry Gerdes, Trevor's email urging us to get up off our backsides and get out there and "go and chase that TLE tonight in memory of him" - well i did exactly that:thumbsup:
