How about this Saturday... BEFORE New Moon (Saturday 18th October) ?

Forecast looks good. (some early cloud expected to clear before sunset)

Moon will not be an issue (rising around 3am).

(and the 25th will still be there if required)

It's big its huge it can gather as much light as the heavens can throw at it.........new 10" (big imho) skywatcher(not everyone can have an Orion) goto (hey but it's a pushto as well) and makes for a good passenger on the back seat:D

Alas it can't make clouds go away!

Hi John,
Well, I am open to persuasion, either way.
We certainly haven't been overrun in eager acceptances.
But Bretti is not a definite (weatherwise) this coming week, so maybe.
7pm was my ETA also.

Rick, are you Aboard?

Sorry Al. Can't make tonight.
Sounds good John and there is nothing too shabby about a 10" scope. I really loved my 10" before the Orion. It will give some superlative views I'm sure.
Looking forward to catching up with you guys soon.

:)The best night for astronomical observation so far this year,
:) a Saturday night,
:)moon is a waning crescent, not rising till around 3am, and
:question:the Pony Club deserted, except for four of us?
I don't get it

The sky was cloudless.
A fresh breeze kept dew at bay until near midnight.
Seeing was good
Company was good.

Thanks to all who turned up: John (Fizics); Dave (Racecar) and Joe (Astropolak). Good to catch up with you guys again.

John's new scope had its maiden voyage and seemed to go well.

We all opted for an early night, and I locked the gate about 1.

Not sure if I will be able to make this Saturday Arthur, still hoping the weather improves for the Bretti proposed camp out. (unlikely:().

Guess we will just see what we get served, and work from there.

But 16:30 seems terribly early to start, considering the sun doesn't even set until 19:15. An extra 3 (daylight) hours waiting around makes for a long night IMHO. :D

I always get there early, gives me a chance to veg out and have a drink and something to eat and enjoy the nature and and and etc.

I don't get there a 1630 with the expectation of seeing anything extraterrestrial .:)

I'm a definite maybe at this stage. I think there maybe some place I have to be, but until I'm told in no uncertain terms about it, I'm not so sure.

Just in time to veg out for a while, just arrived at the pc, looks like it is set up for a horse day tomorrow but we shouldn't interrupt their stuff. Watching the clouds, at present his cloud a little smokey
